Focus on social authority with digital marketing

social authority

Social media is still a buzz phrase to many and this trend will not be stopping anytime soon because it’s a medium that provides many benefits. It brings people and organizations closer to each other. For SEO, links from highly authoritive blogs, user-generated content from channels like Hubpages and even some social bookmarking channels are considered as valuable links. It’s been a while now that Google and the other top search engines are using social media factors as ranking signals. Social media and SEO are now holding hands.

It’s a fact that SEO and social media is a match made in heaven these days. Quality organic links and good “magnetic content” will always be the heart and soul of SEO to ensure top rankings. With this, social media is becoming the relationship side of SEO that seems to be the future of the digital world. Having a good social authority is valuable these days, especially by Google.

Links you get from online channels such as websites, blogs, user profiles, and other channels with a higher social authority are given more weight. Social authority is developed when a business or person establish themselves as an “influencer” or “expert” in their niche and market.

What creates social authority?

  • Topic: Being relevant and on topic with the people you are targeting.
  • Quality: Connected with other authoritive people and only focusing on creating and sharing quality content in your social circles.
  • Quantity: Having more authoritive followers and friends than you are following.

Did you know that all of the links from Twitter do not carry pure link juice and are nofollow? That means that it doesn’t carry any link juice that digital marketers crave, but it still provides Google with a social signal that can influence your rankings. If the Tweet or update was made by someone with a high social authority, it will create ripples in the search results.

Social authority is all about exerting influence online. Celebrities and experts that are social connected will be able to use their influence on the social web in way that can greatly affect search engine rankings
